How does a chimney sweep and service visit work?

I'll email you ahead of the visit, arrive with dust sheets, sweep or service the appliance thoroughly, and send a written report afterwards explaining what was found and any recommendations.

Do you give a fixed quote?

Yes, I'll always give you a clear price before starting work, and explain any recommended maintenance before carrying it out, with no hard sell.

Are you certified and insured?

Yes, I'm HETAS certified for sweeping and servicing solid fuel appliances, and every job is covered by insurance for your peace of mind.

How long does a sweep or service take?

A standard sweep usually takes under an hour per appliance, while servicing or repairs can take a little longer depending on what's needed.

How do I know if there's a real problem with my chimney?

I carry out camera inspections where needed to check the flue properly, and I'll always explain exactly what I've found rather than just telling you it's fine.

What areas do you cover?

I cover Spalding and the surrounding villages including Pinchbeck, Weston, Holbeach, Long Sutton and Crowland.

Chimney Camera Inspections in Spalding

A camera run up the flue to check it's sound, including before a new stove or fire goes in.

A camera inspection lets me see the actual condition of the flue rather than guessing from the outside, checking for cracks, obstructions, old debris or anything else that shouldn't be there. It's the same process whether you're having a routine check or getting ready to install a new stove or fire, where I need to know the flue is sound before anything goes in.

I go through what the camera picks up while I'm still on site, then set it all out in the written report afterwards. If the flue needs relining or repair before an install can go ahead, I'll tell you exactly what I've seen and why it matters.

What's included

Camera survey of the full flue length
Check for cracks, blockages or debris
Pre-install inspection before a new stove
Footage reviewed on site
Findings included in the written report
Advice on any remedial work needed

We chose Brett after getting a couple of quoted for the inspection of chimney, sweeping of two and servicing of two wood burning stoves. Brett stood out from the very first communication. We picked, even though he wasn't the cheapest and I'm glad we did. Brett was extremely dilligent and thorough from the moment he arrived. He was respectful of our home, left not a speck of dust or soot and was both knowledgable and enthusiastic. He recommend a couple of maintence jobs on our stoves, without any hsrd sell, and carried them out with skill. You may have to wait a little longer for Brett, so book in early. You'll be glad you did.

Fantastic service, very reasonably priced and went above and beyond! the whole inside or our new house needs ripping out and replacing and brett still had the same level of care as if it was a recently refurbished place! Also took the time to reassure my wife who suffers with anxiety that burners are safe and explain why! couldn't recommend bretburn any higher! Cheers, see you when it's time for a sweep!

Very impressed with the service provided. From the email notifications prior to arrival. To the professional professionalism and care taken around the house. Brett swept three chimneys for us, two of them were a mess and disaster however Brett has left the area clean as a whistle. Looking forward to Lighting the fires. Brett’s Visit with swiftly followed by a report again via email.
