Tiling starts with the surface, not the tiles, walls and floors are checked and levelled first so the finished job sits flat rather than following an uneven wall. I set the tiling out before fixing anything, so cuts fall in sensible places and the pattern lines up around the room, not just from one corner.
Cuts around sockets, pipes and fittings are done properly rather than covered up, and everything is grouted and silicone sealed once fixed. I've done full bathroom retiles as well as floor tiling on its own, working the same way whichever it is.
